Keeping it all in the film family, as opposed to the crime family, Russian dialect coach Olegar Fedoro did double duty by appearing on-screen as the tattooist who works on Nikolai. "Viggo's body was a canvas for me," he reports. "Instead of a brush, I was using a little electric machine."

Russian dialect coach Olegar Fedoro checked authenticity constantly and monitored Mortensen closely. Fedoro says, "My goal was that when people in Moscow see this film, they say, 'I didnt know he was Russian.' We began preparing when Viggo came back from Russia, where he was very inspired. He's a stronger linguist than most actors."

The more clips I see, the better his accent sounds to me. When I first saw the original trailer, I was worried. I happen to live in a community where there a lot of Russians (we even had a sort of secret consulate in my town), so I have a good idea what he is supposed to sound like. Given some of his less successful accents in the past, I am pretty impressed with this one.

What are those hand gestures?

I so want the Russian gal at work to see this and let me know what she thinks of his accent - she says most are awful.

Russian sign language? ;)

He just has that amazing chameleon-like ability to transform himself completely into whatever character he's portraying.

Hmmm..."strong linguist" = strong tongue? ;)

This person obviously never saw "Albino Aligator"! I was actually going to post something about his accents and how many of you thought he'd completely butcher this one. Guess you are all more complimentary than I.

IMHO, I just don't think he does accents all that well. Hopefully he's spot on in EP. Nothing worse than a fake Russian accent! Well, except maybe a fake French Canadian one!

I didn't care for his accent in Albino Alligator either, but was told by two different Canadiens that it was spot on. I wouldn't know, but I just didn't like how high and nasally he pitched his voice. I like it when he uses his lower registers. Okay, I just dig deep voiced guys! snort

I know what you mean about the high and nasal tone. I guess that's why he tries to stick in the lower range?

Well Aragorn's accent was all over the place. LOL

Wwowie, is that kind of like saying Aragorn's tongue was all over the place?

Because that would be a good thing in my book ;)
