He is a cutie. How long did it take to teach Dudley to talk?? Does he ever shut up??

Dudley said his first word "OK" at 6 mos, now he's 14 and has plateaued at about 40 word/phrase combinations. He often repeats words immediately after I say them but doesn't bother to use them again. But he clearly knows more words than I give him credit for. The other day he was on the floor shoving around a plastic bottle cap with his beak and I said "Dudley, what are you doing?" and he looked at me matter of factly and replied "Playing!" and went back to his playing. I was floored as I never heard him say that word before. Macaws are ridiculously smart.
