I was watching ROTK last night and realized Pippin's "You've seen Frodo & Sam" line gets me every time.

What's your favorite non ranger quote? And why?

When Pippin and Merry are up on Treebeard and he talks. Pippin says to Merry, 'Don't talk to it Merry. Don't encourage it' Just how you say to your kids when they are petting a strange cat and it starts to follow you home!

Pippin and Gandalf are in Minas Tirith and it seems as if they will lose the fight:

PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.
GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?
GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad.
GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.

My eyes fills with tears if Gandalfs says what he thinks about the end of life or the beginning of a life in another "world". *sigh*

My favorite quotes are Gandalf ones. He's a wise old fella. This one is from FOTR:

I'm with pusspower on this one; while there are a great many moments from each actor somewhere along the way, I'm most fond of the Gandalf quotes. Even the exasperated moments when he is grumply with Pippin, or his lot in life(900 lives of men I've walked this earth and now I have no time!) and the sound in his voice when Shadowfax gallops up to him--the wizard had incredible emotions to convey. Humor, sorrow, anger, fear, tiredness ... the same kind as Frodo, actually, but all of it hidden behind a brushy beard so Sir Ian had to do it all with his lips and eyes and tone of voice.

I think I heard that they almost cast Anthony Hopkins for that role... eep!

that would have been a horrible mistake to put anthony in that part.
and the sound of his voice as shadowfax approaches ...that is my favorite part from gandalf

when faramir is talking to his father after he's been sent to his certain death and says something like "i hope you think better of me when i return" and the father says "that will depend on the manner of your return". tears me up each time.

Between his accent, facial expressions and just all round sweetness Pip is ALMOST my fave character.

my favorite line of all times is "they took the little ones" when boromir is dying
i do not know why i just love his voice and that line and the way he says it with such concern as he is slowly dying
and then of course the potatoes line from sam and the cooking spot
and then merry and pippin drunk and laughing at the menfolk
