Gal at work told me it's a she and she's sitting on eggs! I think that site tells ya somewhere when they may potentially hatch.

Pretty cool, huh?

the dog in the icon is precious, by the way! And I love the eagle! It was interesting watching how alert she is! I wouldve loved to see the male fly through too! I'll watch it again!!
hugs!

Neat! We've got bald and golden eagles here in my corner of the world. The high school mascot is an eagle, but in this case, they mean it!

*kiss* Yes thank you! You know after 14 years of birding, over 1000 species on my "life list" I've YET to see an adult bald eagle in the wild, (I've got several other kinds) so I'll settle for video for the time being. So cool!

Well, sister, the guest room's finished, just say the word. Any old walk in park and you can see them here!

You can fomo? That's very tempting! I was thinking the other day it would be fun to get a bunch of us LJ'ers together for a spring/summer barbecue, I'd offer but NYC apts don't have a backyard. I could bring beer/ wine /salad somewhere within bus/train radius (I don't have a car or drive) It's logistically difficult though. ;-( ?

I saw bald and golden eagles four or five times last summer, without looking for them, so yes they're not too difficult to spot.

A bbq get together would be great, but difficult to swing. I have two guest rooms and a big backyard, but I am like 1,000 miles away.
:-/

We need a beaming device, I guess we'll have to settle for the web. I guess 1000 miles is more than a day's drive. ;( What's your closest city/airport? (Fantasies of kidnapping fomo and dragging her to NYC for a long weekend of fun and corruption).

We yokels use the Minneapolis St Paul airport aka MSP, about 15 minutes away. ;-P

I've been looking at various excuses to travel to NYC, but I haven't come up with a good boondoggle...er...business reason...yet.

Well now you've got another reason...I gotta convertible couch that's pretty comfortable...;-)

I have a friend at work who's a serious birder. She's acquired an area around my house for viewing encompassing a watershed and about 15 square miles.

It's a webcam of a mama eagle sitting on her eggs... I'm not sure what format the video would be in though?

Shelly (the gal from work) told me it said somewhere in there when they should be hatching...

Oh, that's great! The partner (can't tell which is which) just came and changed places, taking a turn at minding the eggs. I keep having to go back and look.

Daddy's babysitting? (Or did dad fly away?)

Can't tell which is Mum and which is Dad, but the one that was on the nest flew away when the other one arrived, and the new arrival took over sitting on the eggs. They must take it in turns. So cute!

It's so interesting how instinctive it is for them (or so it seems). I virtually needed to make an appointment to leave the house when the kids were little ;)

There's an article on Yahoo that says it's a huge hit!

I posted the article in my lj if you want to see it- I immediately thought of your live journal entry w/ the link.
